Go Vegan in seven months!
Updated: Feb 18, 2018
A quick guide to start your road to vegan.
I have been thinking a lot about gearing towards a more healthy lifestyle and cutting out all the foods that harm animals and all the foods that aren't good for my body, but have been way too scared to make the blunt lifestyle change. Going vegan is a project in itself, but have found a way to attack it and hopefully make it work with my busy schedule. As a college student, food is limited based on my budget and my dining hall menus, so I never thought I could successfully go vegan, until a couple of weeks ago.
I came up with a plan that would slowly integrate a vegan lifestyle that works with my college life and budget. One month at a time, I am going to remove the foods that aren't part of the vegan lifestyle that way I can slowly become accustomed to my new diet and possibly raise my chances of success. In the next 7 months (starting today, February 1st) , I will be going on a personal food journey exploring new restaurants and ways to get accustomed to eating out along with replacing all the things I love most.
I have been successful for short periods of time when it comes to cutting out meats, chicken, and fish, but due to the abrupt cut off, I never last. I am hoping this time around I can figure out how to cut the cravings, or simply gross myself out so much that I'll never want to consume anything non-vegan ever again. Either works.
Below is my 7 month plan to veganism! (Not sure veganism is actually a word but it sounds legit!)
Once I get to August, I plan to stick out the vegan life until the end of the year, and if I enjoy it, I will keep it for the following year, if not, I will slowly work the foods I miss back into my diet come January 1, 2018. It's going to be a challenge, but a worthwhile journey. I will document expenses, hardships, the upsides, and everything in between.
If anyone wants to hop on this journey with me, feel free to reach out to me and we can do it together. Or you can interchange the months and start at your own pace. I'd honestly just love to have some company with this.
Here are some websites I've checked out to help start me on the journey!
